An Easter To Remember

Posted

For many of us here in the United States, with a Caribbean heritage. Easter weekend means families traveling across state to be with their loved ones and experience a variety of traditional homemade dishes including coconut sweet bread, hot cross buns, christmas style ham not to mention the occasional pastelle.

Somehow, the unified cooking forces amongst sisters, brothers and in laws always turn into a "who have the sweetest hand" competition..

As my brother in law breaks out the "cheese paste first" step to making his all famous macaroni pie, "You have to make the cheese mix first then add it to the macaroni before putting in the oven" as he smile from ear to ear. Not gonna lie though, the macaroni pie was real good.

Then there is the egg hunt for the newly acquainted cousins, such a joy to meet each other for the first time and eat chocolate together. Perhaps thats how everyone should meet each other, over chocolate eggs.

Regardless of all the underlying experiences of human connection, holiday time with family is one of those experiences that create the most valuable memories when reflecting on life. Hope you Easter was one to remember as well. Happy Easter!!
