Chief Brand Chicken Gyro
The gyro is a beloved street dish composed of pita wrap, filled with well-seasoned meat and topped with yogurt sauce
called tzatziki all made easier to prepare with Chief’s Gyro’s Spice Mix.
EQUIPMENT
Roasting Pan
INGREDIENTS
5 lbs Chicken Breast (This can also be done with lamb and beef steaks)
1 tbsp Chief Brand Salt
1/2 tbsp Chief Brand Black Pepper
3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
3 tbsp Chief Brand Gyro Spice Mix
12 each Gryo Flat Breads
2 Large Tomatoes, sliced
Handful Local Lettuce, chopped
1/2 cup Garlic Mayonnaise
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a roasting pan with aluminum foil.
- Season chicken breast with salt and black pepper, ensuring to rub liberally all over the surface area of the meat.
- In a small bowl, combine the Vegetable oil and Gyro Spice blend and mix well.
- Place chicken breast on a rack in the prepared roasting pan.
- Generously rub the gyro spice marinade all over the chicken breast.
- Place into oven and roast until it reaches an internal temperature of 155 degrees Fahrenheit.
- When chicken is cooked, remove from the oven, and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
- To prepare Gyros, take flat breads and warm gently on a tawa or microwave.
- Slice a few pieces of chicken and place on the flat bread followed by sliced tomatoes, some lettuce and lastly drizzle with garlic sauce to your preference.
- Gently roll the gyro bread enveloping all the ingredients to form a tight long log.
- Wrap Gyro in parchment paper to help secure it and keep shape by tightening the ends of the paper.
- With a serrated knife, slice the wrapped gyro in half, and place on your plate.
- Serve gyro immediately and enjoy.
